The
event, organized as part of the Fit India Movement, saw enthusiastic
participation from journalists, fitness enthusiasts, and members of the
Newspaper Association of India. The initiative aims to encourage citizens to
adopt a healthier lifestyle by dedicating their Sundays to cycling and outdoor
activities.
Dr.
Mandaviya highlighted the importance of physical fitness and said, “Cycling is
not just a form of exercise, it’s a way to connect with nature and promote
sustainable living. The media plays a critical role in spreading awareness, and
it’s heartening to see them lead by example.”
Vipin
Gaur, General Secretary of the Newspaper Association of India, said, “It’s a
great initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of
India. If journalists are engaging in fitness activities, they can send a
strong message to the general public. The Fit India Movement is not just a
one-day program — it is the Maha Kumbh of fitness in India.”
Besides
the Newspaper Association of India, members of the Delhi Journalists
Association, Media Federation of India, and Delhi Sports Journalists
Association also actively participated in the event, showcasing a united front
in promoting the message of fitness and health
The
event kicked off early in the morning with a cycling rally that spanned several
kilometers, followed by interactive sessions on health, wellness, and
nutrition. Participants praised the initiative and encouraged its replication
in other cities to foster community well-being and eco-friendly transportation.
