Justice GS Patel probated Parveen's will on October 14, this year and directed the high cCourt registry to issue letters that would administer the will to Parveen's uncle Muradkhan by December 23, this year.
The Parveen Bavi estate includes a sea-facing flat with four bedrooms in Juhu, a haveli in Junagadh in addition to jewellery and deposits worth Rs 20 lakh in banks plus other investments. The 80% set aside from Parveen's wealth for underprivileged women and children will be deployed to form and run a trust. Ten percent from the money allotted to the trust will be given to St Xavier's College in Ahmedabad where the actor did her Master's in English Literature before taking up modelling.
Parveen Babi, who starred in some of the biggest films of the '70s and '80s died alone in her Juhu flat on January 22, 2005. Her death was reported to have happened due to complications arising from diabetes. The police came and discovered her body after neighbours noted that the actor had not picked up milk and newspapers from her doorstep for three days.
After the court case was resolved, Parveen's uncle Muradkhan was quoted as saying, "Parveen was very close to me; she grew up in my arms. The legal battle was never really about money or the 20-per cent share she has given me. It was about her last wishes. I will use her estate to create a trust that will keep her alive forever."
